The editor at Samhain... she say yes!

Wait till the end of October?

Nope.

Sasha at Samhain just said a big fat...

YES

to Past Lies. (This was formerly called The Relucant Heiress)

Wooty woo hoo!

I'm not going to get to sleep again tonight, am I??

And the lottery tomorrow... Is there such a thing as the power of four ;-)

Eagerly waiting for three...

So I'm mooching about the web, closing down for the night...

And *BAM*

Buying Mackenzie's Baby is #1! My heart is racing - I'm trying to do a screen capture, cos it's bouncing - and tell the world before I drop to #2 again.

The I get an IM from Aline. I just got a 5 heart review from The Romance Studio.

So... to the title of the blog...

The Ent has a lottery ticket for Friday.

Here's hoping *grin*

Still plugging away.

Started writing the end of Past Lies and I realised I did need the two flashbacks that I thought I could get away with not putting in. Having them in made the story flow again.

I spent this morning, before flashbacking, looking at hotels in Rome.

The Ent suggested that we could go on holiday next year. Just the two of us, for a couple of days.

So this is the place I was looking at. Probably noisy, with a 25 line motorway out side. But I think the view more than compensates, don't you?

And another one enters the ether...

I zapped Past Lies over to Samhain today. I should hear the verdict the end of October... It's the partial. The whole thing should be finished fairly soon. Hurrah.

Which is handy, as there is a byzantine fantasy that's calling again...

Past Lies

I worked out a method for writing longer stories... I've probably been doing it for a while, but it's only just become conscious. I'm a gut-writer. I plan out what's going to happen, but often have no idea how it will all tie together. That it does is often a great surprise to me, LOL

Anyway, Past Lies is storming to the end. And again I'm having trouble. So I did what I did with The Bone Magician's Daughter. I went back and began to tie up every lose end, write in and research every point where I'd left an asterisk - usually with the words *insert sex scene here* hehe So the ms will be totally clean and I'll have a rounded view of the motives and state of the characters in the big end moment.

Seems to be working. I have the big *cough* scene to write in (doing that today) a couple of flashbacks that tieing it all up created and then I'll be ready to write the end.

I do the ** in the text because sometimes I'll just lose momentum if I have to write something difficult. I learnt it from NaNoWriMo last year, I realised. Write a comment and move on.

So... Past Lies should be done with soon. I hope to sub the full thing... but looking at it now, realistically... the partial to my editor this week. (My editor -still a little *squee* moment)

She's off on a cruise, lucky thing, and is taking stories to read.

And now I'm back to rather rude goings on, first thing on a Monday morning.

It's such a hard life ;-)

Back to writing

I'm whizzing through Past Lies today. Tidying up the the missed bits and making the story flow. Then I get to write the end. Which will be fun... *grin*

Me again...

And the insane new reality just keeps rolling on. I'm #2!

A huge thank you to everyone who is making this possible for Buying Mackenzie's Baby. *grin*

Why did no one tell me?

Buying Mackenzie's Baby... is now #3

Why did no one on Tuesday tell me my original reality was going to be subsumed by an insane one?

Samwise's favourite number

So Buying Mackenzie's Baby came out.

I was apprehensive. The hero, Mack, is not the conventional romantic lead and the heroine has a quiet strength, that doesn't seem to be the norm either.

I was happy to make a few sales... and that Ali who had been waiting a long time for this book to come out (if you're reading this, Hi, Favourite Stalker, LOL) liked it... which she did. *grin*

Then my editor, Sasha, emailed and said I was #5 on the Samhain bestseller list. This had never happened before... Ping. Another email. I'm #4.

I was completely gobsmacked, LOL

On the Samhain loop, Annmarie McKenna admitted that she cried. Her sinuses may have been a contributing factor, LOL, but something I wrote touched someone so deeply that they had a big emotional reaction to it. I'm misting up again. It is so very cool. LOL

I didn't sleep... well I passed out at 4am.

Very sandy-eyed this morning. But grinning. A lot.

(Oh, and the title of the post? It's #4, hehe)

Buying Mackenzie's Baby... is here!

Blurb

The morning after a high society party finds Kate Hartley in her ex-husband’s bed. Just a stupid mistake; something to put behind her… Until she discovers that she is
pregnant.

Mack had never wanted children; had only married her in a rush of lust. Kate knows this. Nothing would drive her to ask anything of him. Nothing. But she’s homeless and flat broke.

And it isn’t only her welfare now.

However, Mack has his own agenda. Kate had fooled him once; married him for his money. Whored herself… It was why he had divorced her. But now his grandfather has threatened his mother’s home if Mack doesn’t marry and produce an heir.

He had vowed never to marry again. But Kate Hartley is his
only choice.

And pay back can be sweet…

Buy it here *grin*

And the count down begins

It's probably about another 24 hours before Buying Mackenzie's Baby escapes.

Getting nervous now. I'm really not sure how the hero, Mack, is going to be received, LOL He's not the usual instantly attractive alpha that's the norm in contemporaries. He's a bitter man, wounded and he needs time to heal.

I imagine everyone will hate him to some degree.

But he's worth it. Honest.

Getting back to my contemporary

Just doing a bit of research while Samwise is in pre-school for his 2.5 hours *grin*

I don't think it's the usual subject matter for a conventional romance. Zachary Quinn may turn out to be an unusual sort of hero, LOL

Buying Mackenzie's Baby - first review

I got this last week and then life got in the way, LOL

Here's a snippet:

Kim Rees did a wonderful job in bringing out the emotions of both heroine and hero keeping me spellbound from beginning to end!

Back to school

Frodo went back to school this morning.

He was so excited he dressed himself, even attempting the buttons on his shirt in his eagerness. The Ent drops him off at breakfast club, so he eases his way into the school day with play, rather than straight into the class. He practically skipped in. *grin* (Frodo, not The Ent. Though he may have. He has no embarrassment gene to speak of)

Samwise was jumping up and down to go to nursery. Ran in, stuck his name on the board, ran to the drawing table, finished a drawing and put it on the window sill. I tried to say goodbye, but he was too busy sharpening a pencil and looking for something else to do.

Great not to be wanted, hehe

So I came home, determined to write in the quiet time. And just hammered out 1100 on a idea that I had about two weeks ago. Yes. I had an idea. Just came to me... pop... in the middle of CSI. And it has nothing what so ever to do with Crimimalistics, LOL

Have to jot down the rest of it. The middle is hazy, but I have the end, so it's something to work towards. Tonight that means I can carry on with Past Lies without this thing bugging me. Which is extra cool too.

Weddings and BBQs

A generally busy weekend.

A wedding that's been a long time in coming, finally happened. A friend who I worked with in Mordor tied the knot here. Frodo and Samwise belted about for roughly twelve hours in the extensive grounds, finding every dangerous place that they could. The electrical cable hidden under the bushes, the half formed pond, the busy road...

It was odd to see everyone again after five years away. Most of the people have moved on from PwC and it was a time warp for them.

The weather held out and we could spend the day outside - mostly chasing Frodo and Samwide (see above *grin*)

Coming back this afternoon, we got invited to a neighbour's BBQ as we got out of the car. Frodo had a sleep - he was totally knackered - then we went out again, with much grumbling from said Frodo. He lounged on a couch, until conveniently getting a second wind when he saw the trampoline in the garden. Bouncing ensued.

Samwise learned the valuable leason against an attacker with a long sword. He got in close with with his short sword, thus negating his opponent's advantage...

I'm a bad mother, aren't I?

7% and Rising is with my editor. About a two month's wait to see if she likes it or not, LOL.

Time to work on something else. *grin*

7% and Rising... is away!

I just hacked out a synopsis and sent the little bundle out into the big, bad ether.

Have to run now and get ready for a friend's wedding tomorrow. The tribe is descending on Brum... Oh. Dear.

Today is one of those bleh days.

You know the one where everything is shitty?

I'm tired and I'm going to veg. Probably best if I don't write any more ;-)

Samwise goes forth

Samwise returned to Pre-School this morning. No tears, no vomiting (that was fun at the beginning of last term), he just ran in, sat down and started sharpening a pencil. Which was cool, because I had to rush home to met Frodo who was attending his occupational therapy session.

He's got big and small know. Mainly due to his recent birthday presents, large dalek, small dalek; large cyberman, small cyberman. He's having trouble with grouping large and small and behind and in front. I've been chasing him around the front room most of the day, tickling him and trying to demonstate these concepts, LOL I have no idea if it was working, but we giggled a lot.

I finished Parallel Worlds by Michio Kuko. There was a part in section two that was interested and gave a clear demonstation of how one could exist and what it would be like. Then it lost me to string theory and M-branes and I couldn't see what the point was anymore. *sigh* Especially the Be excellent to each other in the last few paragraphs. Very Bill and Ted. And what happened to the endnote numbering? There are a tonne of endnots and not one indication in the main part of the text. *grr* The notes about time did help with 7% and Rising though. Made it a bit different from the usual time travel stories I've read...

I'm now reading The Night Watch by Sergi Lukyanenko and Emperor by Stephen Baxter.

It's now been a month since The Bone Magician's Daughter made its merry way out into the world. And it's a fortnight for The Third Proposal. I want to add 7% and Rising to the list.

I just need to add just that little bit extra to the almost last scene...

7% just got interesting

A trip to the opticians yesterday, where I had my retina photographed. It looked like Mars. really cool. I have healthy eyes and no forming diseases, which is cool *grin*. I also have more melanin in my eyes then most people in the area, LOL

The optician seemed quite surprised and miffed that I had more melanin then him...

He puts the lack of it in Liverpool to the sunbed culture that thrives here. I'm blue-white and freckled and have no intention of sunbathing and becoming the glorious orange that everyone from 11 upwards seems to crave. So my eyes are chock-ful of the stuff that protects my eyes and which UV light destroys.

Much smugness today? You bet.

I also went bag shopping, discovered that the bag I liked was 75 pounds and spent the money on books instead. A much more worthwhile cause.

And so to the title of the post. I was hunting for my third book in the 3 for 2 offer and picked up Parallel worlds by Michio Kaku. I know nothing about science. I scraped by in O level Biology and Physics and Chemistry stopped at 14. So I always have to start from scratch if the story I want to write has heavy science in it. Nimue's Price - prime example.

7% and Rising is about time travel and I was happy with my theory about how it worked. Now I'm half way through Parallel worlds and 7% is starting to change. It's going ever so slighty very quantum, LOL I'm going to be mean and not give any more away.
