Bounce, bounce, bounce

Only caught the last half hour of tonight's CSI:CSI but...

the Sara/Grissom ship seems to be back in tidal wave force, hehe

I am so sad.

And so wanting to see the first part of this episode. I don't even know the title. Wah!

Well the title of that last post was a lie...

I'm still haven't quite shook of this cold. *grrr* It absolutely will not shift!

I've been battling away with Bone Magician. I'm at 78k ( I think) so I have about 15k to go, if not a bit more. Which is cool. I wanted it done by the end of June. Might not happen, but it will be finished soon. Hurrah.

Interesting thing of the day...

I was watching Mind Shock on Channel 4 about heart transplants. The theory is that for about 10% of donor recipients, they get the memories, attitudes and appitudes of their donors. How strange is that? Stranger still, is that the heart has its own brain and in tests is the first part of us to react to stimuli, the brain kicking in second.

Looks like the Egyptians were right to keep the heart and whisk the brain...

Fascinating stuff. The Ent slept through all of it, only waking up when I turned over and a bimbo was having a plastic surgeon implant a chin and give her an eyebrow lift. Not exactly on the same level really, LOL

Feeling better today

The cold is getting better. It didn't help that Frodo, Samwise and I got soaked to the skin coming back from school yesterday. I swear, there were people sitting on the clouds with huge buckets and a wind machine. One minute sunny, the next a howling gale and a torrential downpour. Then a split second later, brilliant sunshine. Isn't global warming fantastic? *sigh*

I had a small epiphany as I was watching Stargate this morning... as you do.

I realised why I write contemporary and fantasy.

My contemporaries are all about the strength of the hero; often a damaged Alpha male to varying degrees *grin*

I write fantasies for the heroine; for the power a fantasy world can give a woman, no questions asked *wink* Then again, there's always an impossibly attractive hero knocking about in the background. Speaking of which, I must update my other blog. Jarod's had a relaxing few days. I think he needs to be kicked out of bed, LOL

And now I'm heading back to Bone Magician. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of the month and then I can send it off to Berkley and Macmillan. YAY

Missing...

...not well, as per usual *sigh*

Samwise infected me with one of this deadly toddler bugs.

I hate decorating

I'm still decorating my old bedroom at Grandma Gandalf's house. And it's driving me crazy. Why is it taking so long to tidy and paint such a tiny room? Argh! It's convoluted, but I can't start Samwise's room until this one is done. *sigh*

And tonight I did a bit of delurking on RomanceJunkies Reader Yahoo Group - and shared in my general obsession with all things Jane Austen, LOL

I'm also onto Chapter sixteen with Bone Magician. I want it done and out by the end of the month. It's driving me crazy, LOL

The Big Toddle

Samwise's morning at Nursery involved going on a sponsored walk today, LOL

Barnados Big Toddle, to be precise. Toddle to the nearby park, toddle around the park, managing to get lost under bushes, trees and behind rocks. Have a picnic... and managing to get lost under bushes and trees. No rocks in the picnic area. Unless you count the neolithic standing stone. But that's not very big, LOL

We then retired to the swings. After several rounds of the slide, he was getting tired and we came away early.

He had a fun day. Which is cool.

Not much writing done today (see above) - but I did sent a chapter of to the Romance Junkies Writing Contest. Again. Not saying what, or what name I attached. *grin*

Now I have to go and update the other blog.

Oh and The Ent, who now also blogs, referred to me as Novelist Supermum. Nice of him, LOL... but I'm sure there's a bit of creeping involved. *grin*

Quite a lot done today

I got the first chapter of Alchemy banged into shape and I am awaiting upon Madam Kruger to slash her claws through it *grin*

I subbed 'A Rare Feast' to Enchanted Ramblings this morning. It was inspired by an ex-boyfriend. If you read it, remember not to get on my bad side, hehe

And I've just printed off the The Third Proposal. That was the sub from the Amber Quill comp back in March. I got an offer to revise and submit, so I'm taking another look at it. It needs more sex, apparently, LOL

Now I just have to shoot over and update Jarod's blog.

The Ent also started a blog today. *grin* http://darkdwarfblog.blogspot.com

What have I done today?

Well, I'm up to chapter fifteen, which is about 55k - so I'm definitely on the homestretch - sort of, maybe, LOL

I've just updated Jarod's blog. He's got a difficult point of view - so I did something naughty, *grin*

And now I'm getting back to a bit of Alchemy before I go to bed. I think I might by able to sort the first chapter by the end of the week.

I also have to edit a story for Enchanted Ramblings and sub that. Not my usual faire. Way more gore and absolutely no romance. Cool.

My other blog makes me think... wah!

Just updated my other blog. Yup, it's official, running two blogs is hard, LOL.

I'm up to chapter fourteen in Bone Magician and now over half way. I can see the end in sight, hurrah!

Writing it out from scratch is a nightmare, but I am catching a hell of a lot of errors and crappy sentences that even printing it off and going through with a red pen didn't catch. So the pain is worth it *grin*

On the hobbit front, Samwise went to pre-school this morning and stayed the full 2.5 hours. Which was cool. As he sat down to his lego, I even got a "Bye, Mummy" and a wave. No shrieking, no tears, no vomiting. I'm glad we persevered with it and didn't cave, LOL

Frodo seems to be doing really well with the assistant who now sits with him most mornings. His communication and interaction has improved in the short weeks she's been there. And now he wants to got to school to play with Sharon. Which is sweet, LOL

Now I'm off to look at the first chapter of Alchemy for a while. Eep.

All things blog

I've done a bit of jiggery pokery with my blog today... mainly because I was insane enough to set up another blog. I know. I can hardly keep up with this one at the minute.

However, there is method in my madness.

I officially have two names that I write under

Kim Rees - Your above average Hot Contemporary *smirk*
and
Kim Knox - Dark and Dirty Fantasy

DDF is going to be specifically about the Fantasy I write and run, mainly, by the characters.

Which should be... erm.. interesting... eep!

Anyway, back to Bone Magican. Jarod's already complaning. See his post LOL

Alchemy

The Alchemy first chapter, which I thought, I could wrap up pretty easily, now needs another scene and a fair bit of twiddling for the rest of it. *grrr*

Still Alesh is fun to write *grin*

But first, I have to but Fen waist deep in effulent...

I got distracted

Typing my way through Bone Magician, I had this sudden need to read Relcuant. So I skimmed it. The prologue was new (Me = Prologue Queen) and I jumped to Chapter Four - cos the first three chapters I know far too well, LOL

I completely forgot I wrote an entire new scene for the beginning of Chapter Four. I love doing that. I could read it objectively. And then I had to quickly knock out a new crown. Angst Empress. There's a darkness to Reluctant. But I can't write light, I've tried and then I have to turn around and make my characters' lives hell again.

Makes me want to write an angsty story again, LOL

And another one...

I just found another review at Coffeetimeromance:

The writing style is excellent and Kim Rees certainly knows how to set up anticipation. The sex scenes are well written and the character reactions are real. This book is a good read and I hope to see Ms Rees's writing continue to develop as she has the skills to write very emotionally layered characters.

Isn't that nice? *grin*

Reviews, review, reviews

I'm still on a review high, LOL Here are snippets from the latest 3:

4 Blue Ribbons
THE BILLIONAIRE'S SEDUCTION definitely seduced this reader out of her sleep. As Kim Rees sweeps us along for a roller coaster ride of desire and espionage, one can't help but root for Emily and Jake as they struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other. Definitely worth losing sleep over Kim's particular style of story telling and wry sense of humor.

Blog-free zone

I'm guilty of neglecting my blog this week... but it's half term for Frodo and Samwise, so I think I can be forgiven, LOL

I'm still ploughing my way through Bone Magician. Jarod's back, so I'm happy again *smirk*

I'm off to Northumberland for an Ent family wedding. There'll be plenty of Hoom Homing, I'm sure... *sigh*
